FOUR teams remain in the NBA Playoffs with the Conference Finals underway. After a Game 7 win over Washington the Boston Celtics will play the reigning champion Cleveland Cavaliers in the East Finals. In the West the San Antonio Spurs will be looking to dethrone the dominant Golden State Warriors and they face the prospect of doing so without their superstar Kawhi Leonard, who suffered an injury in Game 1.
JUST hours ago the Boston Celtics won the draft lottery, earning the rights to pick 1st in June’s NBA Draft. The pick was originally owned by the Brooklyn Nets, but a 2013 trade with the Celtics that netted (pun intended) the Nets Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce and saw them give up the right to swap first round picks in 2017. As a result the Nets will pick 27th instead of 1st. Ouch. The Lakers and 76ers rounded out the top three.

MIKE Trout is looking more and more like an MVP day in day out. This comes as no surprise to baseball fans with Trout the consensus best player in the league. However, his form lately has been particularly dominant. In the past week Trout stole two bases and hit six RBI’s with four consecutive home runs. Heading into tonight’s game with the White Sox Trout will look for his 5th straight homer and their 3rd straight win.
FUTURE New York Yankees players who want to done a single digit number no longer have the opportunity to do so. The famous franchise retired Derek Jeter’s #2 jersey on Sunday with the 14 time All-Star recognised for his 20 years of service to the franchise. Jeter holds multiple MLB and Yankees records after his dominant play as a shortstop in the majors, particularly performing his best in the postseason leading to five World Series titles during his tenure.
RAFAEL Nadal may as well be handed the French Open title now. The Spaniard has DOMINATED the clay season to date, winning his third straight ATP tournament over Dominic Thiem at the Madrid Masters 1000. We also learnt Roger Federer’s decision to sit out the French Open was made so he can continue playing on the ATP Tour “for many years to come” in his words. Finally Maria Sharapova will also miss failing to earn a wildcard berth after serving her ban for doping.
YOU would be hard pressed to find a female UFC fighter bigger and more universally known than Ronda Rousey. After a triumph at UFC 211, which featured her fifth consecutive title defense Joanna Jedrzejczyk may have a claim to the throne though. The pound-for-pound best female fighter in the world improved to 14-0 last Sunday and doesn’t look like anyone is going to stop her anytime soon.
