FOR years there has been one fight that UFC fans want to see above all. And for what seems like the 87th time a 2nd Jon Jones versus Daniel Cormier fight appears to be coming soon. Finger crossed this time both fighters can actually make it to the octagon to see who can back up their brash statements.

THANKS to Jon Jones’ colourful history outside the ring this fight has been put off a number of times. The former light heavyweight champ is currently serving a one year suspension for testing positive to a banned substance, with his ban lifting in the first week of July. UFC 213 in Las Vegas is scheduled to take place July the 9th, but that might be too soon for Jones to be ready for war against Cormier. The next potential opportunity for the two to square off would be at UFC 214 in Anaheim on the 29th of July. UFC president Dana White released a statement yesterday and was quoted saying “If Jon Jones is ready to fight [by UFC 214] on July 29, we’ll see the Jones versus Cormier rematch, finally”.

CORMIER has also apparently told White that he’s willing to fight Jones or light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa. The British born Manuwa (17-2) has worked his way up the food chain topping Ovince Saint Preux and Corey Anderson in his last two fights.Fresh off retaining his title belt against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 earlier in April, Cormier also faces a quick turnaround should this fight go ahead. I am just praying that Jones can gear up for the fight before Cormier VS Manuwa becomes a thing. While it would be a good fight and a great test for Cormier, no-one wants to see that. We ALL want Jones VS Cormier and when it happens expect fireworks. The two have exchanged barbs on social media, in interviews and at any other chance they get the opportunity and have formed one of the bitterest rivalries int he sport. The highly anticipated 2nd instalment of Jones VS Cormier seems inevitable, but after all the failed attempts it’s understandable that fans are skeptical of an actual bout. Whenever it does go down you better be glued to your TV.
