AS everything continues to take shape we now have a pretty good idea of which teams are playoff teams and which teams aren’t. Over the next month, the order of how the AFC and NFC seeds will pan out is one of great debate, with Week 14 offering more games between likely postseason participants.

1st: Pittsburgh Steelers (10-2) – vs. Ravens, vs. Patriots, @Texans
2nd: New England Patriots (10-2) – @Dolphins, @Steelers, vs. Bills
3rd: Tennessee Titans (8-4) – @Cardinals, @49ers, vs. Rams
4th: Kansas City Chiefs (6-6) – vs. Raiders, vs. Chargers, vs. Dolphins
5th: Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) – vs. Seahawks, vs. Texans, @49ers
6th: Baltimore Ravens (7-5) – @Steelers, @Browns, vs. Colts
WITH each week that passes the Jags and Titans flip-flop around, toying with gamblers and fans as we try to determine who is the best team in the AFC South. The top two keep their first-week byes at this stage and the Chiefs may now miss the playoffs entirely. Andy Ried’s seat is officially hot.
1st: Minnesota Vikings (10-2) – @Panthers, vs. Bengals, @Packers
2nd: Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) – @Rams, @Giants, vs. Raiders
3rd: Los Angeles Rams (9-3) – vs. Eagles, @Seahawks, @Titans
4th: New Orleans Saints (9-3) – @Falcons, vs. Jets, vs. Falcons
5th: Seattle Seahawks (8-4) – @ Jaguars, vs. Rams, @Cowboys
6th: Carolina Panthers (8-4) vs. Vikings, vs. Packers, vs. Bucs
WELL, well, well. Nothing is set in stone in the NFC race now after the weekend we just had. While the Eagles lost to Seattle I wouldn’t be too worried Philly fans, with a hiccup along the road well and truly due. A 1st vs. 3rd match this weekend again looms as can’t miss football, while the Panthers could continue to throw things into flux if they knock off Minnesota.
In The Hunt
Los Angeles Chargers (6-6) – vs. Redskins, @Chiefs, @Jets
Buffalo Bills (6-6) – vs. Colts, vs. Dolphins, @Patriots
Oakland Raiders (6-6) – @Chiefs, vs. Cowboys, @Eagles
THINGS are wild out in the AFC West. The Chargers keep building their playoff case and a win over the Redskins could move them into the division lead and with it a top-four seed. Even though Buffalo is floating around an injury to Tyrod Taylor has all but ended their inconsistent season.
Atlanta Falcons (7-5) – vs. Saints, @Bucs, @Saints
Detroit Lions (6-6) – @Bucs, vs. Bears, @Bengals
Green Bay Packers (6-6) – @Browns, @Panthers, vs. Vikings
IT’S tough to see a scenario where three NFC South teams make the playoffs especially since they seemingly play one another 55 more times. Atlanta and Detroit face a tough climb back while the impending return of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers facing Cleveland this weekend means they are right in the thick of it.
Miracles Do Happen
Dallas Cowboys (6-6)
New York Jets (5-7)
Cincinnati Bengals (5-7)
Miami Dolphins (5-7)
WINS over inferior teams keep the Cowboys, Jets and Dolphins clinging to the chance of pulling off the impossible. Even though Cincinnati held tough against the Steelers it seems like they are done considering they can’t string four quarters together. With Miami playing the Pats this weekend expect their season to end while Dallas (@Giants) and New York (@Denver) could extend their fairytale chances another week.
Better Luck Next Year
Washington Redskins (5-7)
Arizona Cardinals (5-7)
Houston Texans (4-8)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-8)
Chicago Bears (3-9)
Indianapolis Colts (3-9)
Denver Broncos (3-9)
San Francisco 49ers (2-10)
New York Giants (2-10)
Cleveland Browns (0-12)

THE rich get richer and the poor get poorer unless you’re a 49ers fan. Jimmy G is 1-0 in career starts with San Fran and while he won’t be leading you to the playoffs this year, he looks the goods as a future franchise QB. The news wasn’t as great for the Redskins, Cardinals and Texans as they were put out of their misery after a forgetful 2017 campaign.
