The Patriots Are In A League Of Their Own

FOR fuck sake. The New England Patriots have done it again. In an off-season were questionable paycheques are being handed out left and right and most organisations are throwing darts to choose their signees, the Patriots again have emerged head and shoulders above their competition in the race to build a championship roster.

FRESH off a record breaking SuperBowl win a month ago there were plenty of questions as to how New England would approach their roster restructure. Last season they traded for five players, all of whom contributed in their run to another title and they have swiftly swung the axe this year too. Dwayne Allen from the Colts, Kony Ealy from the Panthers and Brandin Cooks from the Saints have all joined the squad via trades in the past few days that have seen the Patriots first pick in this draft slide back to #72 overall.

WITH Tom Brady as their starting quarterback taking a hit to their future prospects by trading their picks is a worthwhile risk. They also added Stephon Gilmore, resigned Duron Harmon and still may resign defensive stars Malcolm Butler and Dont’a Hightower. Pair all these moves with the fact that Jimmy Garoppolo will likely remain on the roster and the Patriots are in fantastic shape. They essentially stole Cooks and Ealy with the deals they made. Cooks is one of the best young receivers in the entire league and as highlighted by the video above, Ealy is a man mountain game changer on defense. You want to to hate the Patriots for all the success they have had, but there is a reason Belichick is a five time champ and odds on favourite to be a six time champ at this time next year.
