IN case you haven’t heard all is not well in Boston. Starting pitcher David Price and Red Sox broadcaster Dennis Eckersley are apparently feuding after comments that Eckersley made regarding another Red Sox pitcher, Eduardo Rodriguez’s rehab start. Price proceeded to blow up at Eckersley telling him to “get the **** out of here” when he came face to face with the Hall of Fame pitcher.

PRICE was responding to comments that Eckersley made after he viewed the stat line from Rodriguez’s game as he comes back from a knee injury. When viewing a graphic of the start, Eckersley responded with ‘yuck’ during an NESN broadcast. Price was reportedly furious at the comments and confronted Eckersley when he boarded the team plane saying “Here he is — the greatest pitcher who ever lived! This game is easy for him!” with teammates applauding him when he told Eckersley to “get the **** out of here”.

IT reflects pretty poorly on the Red Sox organisation, with Price taking on a bully role against Eckersley and no one standing up and saying anything. Eckersley was only doing his job and his insult wasn’t directed at Rodriguez personally, it was at his stat line and that game alone. Yuck is an accurate way to summarise giving up six runs, on nine hits over three innings.

THE worst thing is that others from the club didn’t step up and say anything, and instead allowed Price to verbally attack Eckersley. I understand that Price was just sticking up for his teammates, but doing it in such a public forum wasn’t the right way to go about it. The incident even has media speculating that Price will look to leave Boston at the end of the season and other members of the team share the same opinion that Price has. Either way, it isn’t a good look for the organisation and their rep if Price can have a rant like this and get away with it.
