The Numbers That Matter From UConn’s 111 Game Winning Streak

IF you were living under a rock and failed to check Twitter at all Friday night something incredible happened. The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team had their 111 game winning streak snapped by Mississippi State after Morgan Williams drained a buzzer beating jump shot in overtime. A lot has happened since UConn last lost, here are the numbers that matter.

865 – THE number of days between losses for UConn last lost. Stanford was the last team to defeated the Huskies women team on 17th Nov, 2014.

80 – SINCE the ACC was formed in 2013-14 the UConn women have won 80 consecutive games in conference play.

65 – THEIR biggest margin of victory during the streak was 65 points when they defeated South Florida 102-37 earlier this year on the 10th of January.

60 – LAST time Mississippi State met UConn in the Tournament they actually lost by 60 points! In the regional semifinal last year a 98-38 margin.

60-43 – OVER the same time period the UConn Men’s team has a record of 60 wins and 43 losses, making the NCAA tournament just once in 2016.

24 – FEWEST points allowed during their streak. That came against the College of Charleston back on the 28th of Nov, 2014

16 – NUMBER of consecutive NCAA tournament wins leading into the game with Mississippi State.

13 – 100 points were scored by the Huskies 13 times during their streak including five times this season.

7 – SEVEN women have been 1st round draft picks in the WNBA since the win streak started. Stefanie Dolson (6th overall) and Bria Hartley (7th) in 2014, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (3rd) and Kiah Stokes (11th) in 2015 and Breanna Stewart (1st), Moriah Jefferson (2nd) and Morgan Tuck (3rd) last year have all done their alma mater proud in the WNBA.

4 – AS mentioned above the women’s Huskies haven’t lost an ACC game to date. During the streak they have gone on to win four consecutive conference tournaments with 14 the closest margin throughout the 12 games.

– TEAMS that came within ten points of the Huskies during their streak. No. 12 Florida State were the 1st team falling just short 78-76 on the 14th Nov, 2016. The 2nd game was came when visiting No. 4 Maryland in front of a sold out crowd with UConn scrapping through 87-81 on Dec 29th, 2016. The 3rd and final team was conference foe Tulane who went down by just three points 63-60 on the 18th Feb, 2017.

0-4 – WITH a loss yesterday the UConn women’s team is now 0-4 in NCAA tournament overtime games in school history.
