Where Will Dez Bryant Land?

A few days have passed now since the Dallas Cowboys released Dez Bryant and a handful of suitors are starting to emerge. The 29-year old won’t be unemployed for long, with teams eager to bring in Bryant who has nearly 7,500 receiving yards in his eight-year NFL career to date. Some squads are more favoured than others to land Bryant, however, there is still debate over which jersey he will be wearing in 2018.

Baltimore Ravens

ACCORDING to a handful of sources, Baltimore is emerging as a serious candidate for Bryant’s services. Adding him to the fold after already signing Michael Crabtree gives Joe Flacco one of the better receiving groups in the NFL. If they get around Dez and add him to a team that already has one of the best defensive units in the league the Ravens are a legit chance for a Super Bowl appearance.

Houston Texans

PERSONALLY I would love to see the Texans make a run for Dez Bryant. They have an exciting young quarterback in Deshaun Watson, coupled with an A-grade receiver in DeAndre Hopkins on their roster already. Throwing Bryant into the mix would make Houston must-watch TV every Sunday. A move to the Texans also means he gets to stay in his home state. Everyone’s a winner.

Green Bay Packers

IMAGINE the uproar in Dallas if their former receiver teamed up with the enemy and was on the end of Aaron Rodgers touchdown passes?! A move to Green Bay makes sense schematically after the Packers lost Jordy Nelson in the offseason, leaving a hole at the receiver spot that could be filled by Dez. Despite copping an L in the 2014 playoffs after his now infamous non-catch, there’s no denying that Bryant knows what Rodgers is capable of. The question is, will he turn to the dark side?

San Fransisco 49ers

OUT of all the teams on my list the 49ers easily have the most salary cap space. While offering Dez a big deal probably isn’t the smartest move, it’s a move that can help San Fran continue to emerge as a serious threat out in the NFC West. The potential team that they could roll out if they manage to land Bryant would look ridiculously different to the one that started 2017, for all the right reasons.

New York Giants

DEZ apparently has his heart set on teaming up with Odell Beckham Jr in NYC. The Giants had a forgetful 2017 season and if they were able to sign Bryant and potentially draft Saquon Barkley with the 2nd overall pick then there would be a high chance that they return to the playoffs next season. Besides, who wouldn’t want want to be a king in New York City?

Los Angeles Rams

THE roster turnover in LA in the past few months makes the Rams one of the favourites for a run at a Super Bowl ring. Bryant doesn’t address a position of need, but he could happily throw up the ‘X’ in the end zone and add more firepower to an already intimidating list. Los Angeles doesn’t have a ton of space in their salary cap so it’s unlikely that we will see Dez Bryant in a Rams uniform anytime soon.

New England Patriots

IMAGINE if Bill Belichick got his hands on a talent like Dez Bryant who is all for buying into the Patriots philosophy. After trading away Brandin Cooks snapping him up from the rest of the competition would give Brady a viable end zone target. I can’t see it happening given the history of Bryant’s character, but he could become Randy Moss 2.0 for New England and ride off into the sunset with a shiny Super Bowl ring.
