  • WE LEARNED…THE DRAMA IN CLEVELAND IS HERE TO STAY
WOW. Just when we thought things couldn’t get worse, they got worse. Cleveland is 6-13 since Christmas Day and the way they are losing is flat out embarrassing. After getting slammed by Houston on Saturday to the tune of 32 points, the Cavs surrendered a 21-point lead to Orlando losing 116-98. Wow.
  • WE LEARNED…DUKE COPS ANOTHER LOSS
A vocal crowd at MSG saw Coach K’s Blue Devils clash with St John’s who are coached by ex-NBA star Chris Mullin on Saturday afternoon. St John’s was riding an 11-game losing streak into the game, but that didn’t stop Mullin from recording a famous win and handing Duke their second loss in eight days. The Blue Devils can’t keep affording slip-ups if they want to truly challenge for the national crown.

  • WE LEARNED…SUPER BOWL LII LIVED UP TO THE HYPE
MY faith in Tom Brady and his ability to pull out a win when the game was on the line saw me back New England to claim Super Bowl LII. Instead, Nick Foles (and really Doug Peterson) put on a masterclass in Minnesota to give the Eagles their first Super Bowl won. I can’t wait to see the viral photos/videos from the parade.
  • WE LEARNED…JOSH MCDANIELS’ BACKFLIP
BOTH of Bill Belichick’s coordinators were expected to become head coaches and leave the franchise this offseason. Matt Patricia (Detroit Lions) led the charge and Josh McDaniels (Indianapolis Colts) followed suit yesterday. Or so we thought. After the Colts announced his signing earlier in the day, McDaniels changed his mind that afternoon, instead opting to stay with the Patriots as their offensive coordinator.
  • WE LEARNED…NBA TRADE DEADLINE BUZZ IS REAL
WITH just over 24 hours left before the annual NBA trade deadline, front offices and rumours are swirling into overdrive. We have already seen a handful of players find new homes with Blake Griffin (Pistons), Nikola Mirotic (Pelicans) and Tyler Zeller (Bucks) swapping teams. Expect to see more noteworthy names mentioned as trade pieces before Thursday’s 3pm ET deadlines passes.

  • WE LEARNED…THE NEW NFL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES
CONGRATULATIONS are in order for the HOF class of 2018! Linebacker Ray Lewis, wide receiver Randy Moss, wide receiver Terrell Owens, linebacker Brian Urlacher, safety Brian Dawkins, linebacker Robert Brazile, guard Jerry Kramer and contributor Bobby Beathard are officially the proud owners of new gold jackets with the eight of them now permanently residing in Canton.
  • WE LEARNED…PORZINGIS GOES DOWN
ANOTHER week, another All-Star injury. This time it was Knicks stud Kristaps Porzingis who went down and landed awkwardly following a dunk. The third-year pro suffered an ACL injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Spare a prayer for the young Latvian.
