- WE LEARNED…ZACH LAVINE’S COMEBACK IS COMPLETE
COMING off a screen and hitting a 27-footer has probably never felt better for Zach LaVine. After being forced to miss 11 months with an ACL tear, LaVine made his Bulls debut on Saturday against Detroit scoring 14 points. Welcome back Zach. -
WE LEARNED…THAT MIRACLES DO HAPPEN
I’M still not quite sure what transpired on Sunday night. One moment the Saints were running away with a memorable comeback victory setting up a visit to Philly. One 61-yard completion later and Stefon Diggs will never pay for a drink in Minneapolis again. Un-be-lievable.
- WE LEARNED…THE AUS OPEN IS HEATING UP
THREE days of Australian Open action has already seen some big name players fall out of the men’s and women’s bracket. Seeded players Milos Raonic, Jack Sock, Kevin Anderson and John Isner all failed to get out of the first round in the men’s side. The women couldn’t avoid the upsets either with Venus Williams, Petra Kvitova, Coco Vandeweghe and the most recent Grand Slam champion Sloane Stephens all losing their opening matches. - WE LEARNED…IT’S JUST A MATTER OF TIME FOR PATRIOTS’ COORDINATOR’S
HIGHLY touted New England assistants Matt Patricia (defensive coordinator) and Josh McDaniels (offensive coordinator) are likely to be pried away from Belichick once this season is completed. Detroit will reportedly hire Patricia and the Colts will snap up McDaniels, making them head coaches for the 2018 season and beyond.

WE LEARNED…LOU WILL SHOULD BE AN ALL-STAR
YEAH, I said it. Williams has dragged the Clippers back to relevance single-handedly and has looked god damn impressive while doing so. Here’s what he has done in just the last week. Scored 50 in a win over Golden State, averaged 28 points in a home-and-home series against the Kings and scored 31 in an eventful win over the Rockets. All while averaging six assists a game, going 26-28 from the free throw line and making 21 3’s. Enough stats, just make it happen. - WE LEARNED…THE MALICE AT THE PALACE, NOW THE BRAWL IN THE HALL?
CONTINUING on with the narrative from that Rockets/Clippers game, it seems the bad blood between Chris Paul and his old team is alive and well. A fiery, heated contest that saw trash talking, swearing, tech fouls and a pair of ejections to Trevor Ariza and Black Griffin boiled over into the post-game. Ariza flanked by Paul, James Harden and Gerald Green headed to the Clippers locker room after the game seeking a confrontation with Griffin and Austin Rivers with extra security called to defuse the situation. We haven’t heard the last of this story.

- WE LEARNED…A BIG GROUP OF MLB PLAYERS AVOIDED ARBITRATION
WITH Friday’s 1pm ET deadline approaching like a ticking time bomb, we saw a handful of baseball’s finest sign one-year deals to avoid arbitration. Essentially these players avoided sitting down in front of a panel of arbitrators to decide the dollar value of their contract for 2018. Big names including Orioles third baseman Manny Machado ($16mil), Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon ($14mil) and Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant ($10.85mil) signed some of the biggest deals, but Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson blew them all out of the water. His $23 million dollar deal for the upcoming season is a record settlement involving an arbitration-eligible player. -
WE LEARNED…I SHOULD JUST DO A WEEKLY TRAE YOUNG UPDATE
IT was an interesting week for college basketball’s newest phenom. Young played two very different games as the Sooners went 1-1 over the past seven days. On Saturday he blew up the box score with 43 points (with 10 3’s), 11 boards and seven assists in an overtime win over #16 TCU. Last night he came back to Earth with just 20 points (8-21 shooting) and 12 turnovers as Oklahoma was upset by unranked Kansas State.
