- WELCOME BACK TEDDY BRIDGEWATER…
IT is a good week to be a Minnesota Vikings fan. Clinching their second division title in three seasons and their 20th overall, they are surging towards the playoffs after mauling Cincinnati in impressive fashion. The game was going so smoothly that Teddy Bridgewater graced the field for the first time since the 2015 wild-card game after suffering a devastating knee injury. I won’t mention how his first pass was intercepted, but life is good in the North Star State.
- …AND KAWHI LEONARD
WHILE he didn’t have as big a layoff, Spurs fans were as equally happy to see their superstar out of street clothes. After spending 27 games on the sidelines to open the season Kawhi Leonard returned against the Mavericks for San Antonio this week scoring 13 points in 16 minutes. His workload will gradually increase and he will return the dominant two-way player we all know and love. Not great news for other West playoff contenders.

- CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT A CATCH IS?
IN my weekly playoff race update I promised I wouldn’t carry on about this, and I will be doing the same thing today. However, I need to address it, In fact, I don’t need to do anything, the league does. There is a real chance that Jesse James’ hotly debated catch-non-catch will determine the top seed in the AFC and we can’t have another Dez Bryant scenario in the playoffs or there will be blood in the streets.
- TRAE YOUNG ISN’T STEPHY CURRY 2.0, HE’S THE FIRST TRAE YOUNG
I love this kid. I was cautious about blowing too much smoke up his ass considering the teams (or lack of) that he had played so far. However, he does lead the nation in scoring and assists and last week he dropped 29 points and nine assists on the then 25th ranked Trojans. Young followed that performance up by helping the Sooners upset No. 3 Wichita State with 29 points and 10 assists. Still not impressed? How about Young ties an NCAA D-1 record with 22 assists against Northwestern State. I don’t care who the opponent is, 22 dimes in 29 minutes. Damn.
- WTF ARE THE MARLINS DOING?
IMAGINE you’re Christian Yelich or J.T. Realmuto. Your team just finished 2nd in the NL East with help from the newly crowned MVP Giancarlo Stanton, giving you hope that maybe the franchise is getting on track after rebuilding for what feels like an eternity. Instead, Derek Jeter comes to town and trades away arguably their three best position players Stanton, Dee Gordon and this week Marcell Ozuna. Realmuto has already shown his desire to play elsewhere and you could forgive Yelich for requesting a new home too. Not great news for Marlins fans praying for playoff action.
- MAMBA OUT
THE tribute to begin the Kobe jersey retirement nearly made me cry, no word of a lie. I hate to sound like a basic bitch, but it hit me right in the feels. As I started to fall in love with the NBA Bryant was heading towards his second string of chips and scoring 40+ without even breaking a sweat. I freakin’ love Kobe and watching the Lakers retire both No. 8 and No. 24 to the rafters the other night was a fitting tribute to the polarizing, generational Kobe. Respect.
- JIMMY G IS FUCKING LEGIT
LET’S get one thing straight. I never doubt any trade from Bill Belichick, because there’s no denying that the player/pick he gets in return will play a massive role in them winning a future SuperBowl. Early returns don’t faze the 49ers though, after Garoppolo has reeled off an impressive 3-0 record as their starter, which includes an impressive win over the Titans on the weekend. In Jimmy G we trust.
