RIVALRY week means just that little bit more this week as the #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes host the #3 ranked Michigan Wolverines. The two storied schools will fight off in probably the best college football match-up to date this year, with the winner virtually guaranteed a spot in the final four of the college football playoff (CFP).
THERE is more than bragging rights on the line this time around in the clash at Columbus, with the tightly contested playoff picture still taking shape. Number five ranked Washington did their job defeating Washington State to stay hot on the heels of the competition. Saturday’s clash between the two schools is the biggest in their rivalry since they met in 2006 ranked 1 and 2 in the nation. Jabrill Peppers will lead a Michigan team that hasn’t won at Ohio State since 2000, but they won’t be intimidated in the slightest. Holding a slightly stronger position in the standings than the Buckeyes if they are able to win they will play off in the Big Ten East championship match, while the Buckeyes have a tougher route to the championship game. They need Michigan State to upset Penn State and also need to take care of the Wolverines.
EITHER way this clash is shaping as one of the biggest in recent memory in college football, with everything on the line and two highly ranked teams ready to square off. Versatile quarterback J.T. Barrett has done a great job of leading Ohio State through out the year and they will again call on him to deliver them a famous win. No matter who walks away with the W on paper there is no doubt that football is the real winner this weekend, and as cliche as that sounds after this epic contest you will see why.
